Following a complaint the Charity Commission conducted a very thorough investigation into the grants made by the Politics and Economics Research Trust and out internal procedures.
Their report (Case Report 1121849) made no finding that any grants awarded by the Charity were improper and no penalties or sanctions were applied. However. the Commission did express concerns about the Charity’s administrative records of its internal processes. The Charity therefore worked with the Commission to revise our procedures and to implement more detailed and comprehensive standard documentation for the award of grants.
The new Trustees of the Politics and Economics Research Trust are grateful to the Charity Commission’s Case Report and for its acknowledgement that the correct decision-making process, together with the recording of decision-making and the monitoring of grants are now all in place.
